Extemporaneous Intelligence
with Robert Julian B. Hvistendahl, and Thor Birkedal.
What is it about?
Extemporaneous Intelligence is an exhibition developed by Robert Julian B. Hvistendahl and Thor Birkedal.
The exhibition examines the connection between technology and the body, how modern structures within our everyday life has changed with the implementations of digital/electronic devices, and how that has influenced our understanding of the world.
They ask the question, how is our autonomy of mind affected, when so many of the choices and decisions we make are funneled through technology?
The title Extemporaneous Intelligence refers to solutions and understandings that can only be found in the moment, it's when we react and create in direct response to something we didn't plan for.
What is intelligence, what forms does it take, how is it developed, and is it possible to synthesize feelings and thoughts through algorithms? If not, what does that mean to us, when our understanding of the world relies more and more on systems controlled by computers.
The project is supported by the Arts Council Norway and Kunstsentrene i Norge.
